Very first blog entry !!

Hello there! I'm trying this out to follow my brother who's been blogging from Calgary for a couple of months now... so here goes...

Same brother (Paul) came down from Calgary for this past weekend on his way to Newfoundland for a week's visit. We met at our Mother's house in  New Minas and immediately set up our blind to shoot her hummingbirds. It was pretty hot in the "fort" but we were rewarded every 15 minutes with a visit from either the male or female. There was pretty frantic shooting for 30 seconds or less, re-adjust for better sightlines/background and get ready again.

After comparing notes and swapping learnings - we talk almost daily - but it's quite nice to have an in-person gab... I learned a lot from his approach to photography.I have been shooting for years - and Paul did awhile back but then got out of it and then a couple of years ago he got back into it and now he is INTO IT... He has a lot of subject matter to choose from and is doing very well...

We visited for a couple of days,shooting daily and then headed down to our place in West Porters Lake. In Windsor we spotted this red tail hawk and got a couple of shots of him ...

As it turned out it was foggy down at our place after 3 days of great sunshine and light. We tripped up to the upper end of our lake in our outboard boat - didn't shoot anything - and got home in time to go out to supper. On coming home after supper we spotted a family of pheasants on our street and got this one (of many) out of the family of eight or so (mostly young males - just getting their colours)...

So  ... let's see what we look like...
